Drawing from The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, Kim offers practical tips to push through self-doubt toward action, greater contribution, and more ease.
Kim’s personal interest in this topic emerged through her career in community development and public policy. She’s worked with civic leaders to build more creative, sustainable, collaborative communities through the global consulting firm SRI International, as co-founder of Collaborative Economics, and as executive in a leading big city government, San Jose. Kate Purmal, author of COMPOSURE: The Art of Executive Presence takes us deep to explore Impostor Syndrome - characterized by reactivity, self-doubt, perfectionism and sensitivity to criticism and feedback. Impostor Syndrome is known to impact more than 70% of all executives at least once in their career, and is also more common and persistent for women than for men.
In her talk Kate explores its root cause, including the psychology and neuroscience behind imposter behaviors, and provides simple game-changing tools to unlock your executive presence to become confident, clear and composed. With composure and presence, you can feel more calm and grounded even when the pressure is on. And she provides practical tips for ways you can foster confidence and become an effective ally for others.
Kate is a Corporate Board Director, Angel Investor, Executive Coach, and Business School Lecturer at Stanford, Georgetown, and the University of Michigan. She has served as CEO, COO, and CFO for numerous technology companies and is the author off two books: COMPOSURE: the Art of Executive Presence and The Moonshot Effect: Disrupting Business as Usual.
